GORT (Gamma-ray Optical Robotic Telescope) is a 14” ground-based telescope originally built to support several NASA high-energy space observatories, including the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope (formerly the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope, or GLAST), Swift, and XMM-Newton.

Through NASA’s Universe of Learning program, GORT is being used primarily to obtain visible light data for objects being observed by all of NASA”s space observatories, operating across the entire electromagnetic spectrum.  You can use GORT to study exoplanets, supermassive black holes in distant galaxies, gigantic cosmic explosions and more!

GORT has been developed and is managed by EdEon at Sonoma State University (SSU).
